After cutting our teeth providing network security, infrastructure management, cloud implementations, and project management solutions for clients that included large tech firms and the Department of Defense, we found our true passion in teaming up with small and medium businesses as an active IT partner.
Our purpose is to help businesses ease the burden of technology management, security, and compliance by aligning technology strategy with business goals. Matt has been passionate about IT since 2001, working his way through the ranks from technology coordinator intern to help desk technician to senior network engineer at an industry-leading defense contractor. In 2015, he founded 1-UP IT Consulting to fulfill his dream of becoming an entrepreneur. Since launching 1-UP, Matt has consulted for multiple large businesses across the DMV, including leading a major network engineering design and implementation and a security controls project at a prominent Department of Defense building. Matt leverages his almost 20 years of experience to lead his growing team in helping small and medium businesses with affordable and forecastable IT service partnerships.
Rick Marin
Business Development & Operations Manager
Rick knows that the most valuable thing a business can have is good people. At 1-UP he focuses the business on strategic relationships with both clients and partners, following the mantra of “be good and surround yourself with good people.” Rick extends his passion for people and community in his personal life, where is he an active member of the community and involved in multiple organizations, including co-director of the Frederick chapter of Startup Grind, an international organization that aims to educate, connect, and inspire entrepreneurship.
Prior to joining 1-UP, Rick worked in restaurant management for 10+ years crafting his management style and gaining valuable experience in business operations and customer service.
